Web performance audit: why your site is slow
I tell you exactly what's slowing your site down, how much work each fix takes and in what order to do them. With numbers, not adjectives, and without rebuilding the site to find out.

What a slow site costs you
A slow site doesn't show up in your visitor count: it shows up in the people who leave before it loads, and those don't appear in any chart with a name attached. Someone arriving on a phone with patchy signal waits two or three seconds and goes back to the search results.
Speed isn't only the visitor's problem either: Google measures three specific things — how long the main content takes to appear, how long the first tap takes to respond, and how much the page jumps around while loading — and uses them as a ranking signal. Those are the Core Web Vitals, and they can be measured on your site today.
This audit isn't an automated report from a free tool with the colours left in. It's the reading of those numbers, the list of what's causing them on YOUR site, and a plan ordered by what improves most for the least work. Then you decide whether I do the fixing, whether your current provider does it with the report in hand, or whether none of it is worth doing yet.
This is for you if
- Your site is slow to open on a phone and a customer has already told you so.
- PageSpeed shows red and you don't know which of the twenty warnings matters.
- Traffic or calls have dropped and you can't tell if it's the site, the sector or luck.
- You're about to rebuild and want to know what's worth saving before throwing anything away.
This is NOT what you're after if
- You don't have a website yet: then this doesn't apply, let's start with the site.
- You want a content and keyword strategy: that's marketing, this is technical. I'll flag what I see, but it isn't the job.
- You want everything fixed within this price: the fixing is quoted separately, once we know what needs fixing.
What's included
A written report you can follow without being technical, with the work ordered by impact and by cost.
Real measurement, mobile and desktop
In the lab and, if your site has enough traffic, with the real user data Google collects. The gap between the two is usually half the story.
The three Core Web Vitals, explained
LCP, INP and CLS, with what each one means in your specific case rather than in the abstract: which element is slow, which tap hangs, and what jumps around while loading.
An inventory of what weighs
Uncompressed images, blocking fonts, third-party scripts — chat widgets, maps, ad pixels — and what each costs in seconds. There are nearly always two or three carrying half the problem.
Technical SEO review
Indexing, duplicate titles and descriptions, redirect chains, sitemap, robots, canonicals and structured data. What stops Google understanding the site, separately from what makes it slow.
Accessibility, the automated pass
Contrast, alt text and form labels, with what the tools can detect. Enough to know whether you have a problem and how big it is. A real accessibility audit — focus order, keyboard, screen reader — is its own job, and if I can see you need one I'll say so on the call.
An ordered plan, with estimated hours
Each item with its expected impact and the work it takes, starting with what improves a lot and costs little — usually about half a dozen things.
Half an hour to walk you through it
A call to read it together and answer whatever comes up. A report nobody explains ends up in a folder, and then it did nothing.
A quote for the fixes, if you want one
With the report done, telling you what fixing it costs is immediate. No obligation: some reports end up in another provider's hands and that's perfectly fine.
How it works
The shortest job I do, and the one that takes least of your time: almost all the work happens on my side.
01same day
Access
You send the address and, if you have them, read access to your analytics and Search Console. It works with just the address, but the report is considerably better with data.
021–2 days
Measurement
Repeated tests on mobile and desktop, across several page types — home, category, product, contact — and not only the homepage, which is the classic mistake.
032–3 days
Report
Written, with screenshots, with the before numbers and the ordered plan. In plain language, with no jargon left unexplained on the same line.
0430 min
Call
We read it together, prioritise against your calendar and budget, and you decide what gets done and who does it.
What it costs
A starting price for a normal-sized site: up to five distinct page templates and no store behind it. It's deliberately the cheapest thing in the catalogue, because it's the door that commits you to nothing.

Previous price: €750Now: from €600- Timeline
- 3–5 days
What moves the price
- The number of distinct page templates to measure, not the number of pages.
- Whether there's a store: the checkout journey is audited separately and takes real work.
- Whether you want a comparison against two or three competitors.
- Whether you want a real accessibility audit rather than just the automated pass.
- Whether you also want me to carry out the fixes, which is quoted as its own project.
Paid in full on ordering, because the deliverable is the report and it's delivered complete. If you then hire me for the fixes, the audit fee is deducted from that quote. Before I accept the job I take a look at your site: if it's bigger than this price covers, you hear that then and not once you've paid.
Questions I always get
Will you fix it afterwards?
I can, quoted separately with the report in hand. But it isn't required: sometimes the sensible thing is for whoever already runs your site to apply it, and the report is written so they can do that without calling me.
Does it work if my site is WordPress?
Yes, and that's the most common case. In fact that's where the quickest wins usually are: duplicated plugins, a theme loading things you don't use, and images straight out of the camera.
Do you guarantee Lighthouse 100?
On a site I didn't build, no. What I tell you is which score is reachable with reasonable work and what each stretch costs. Promising a 100 without having looked inside is what people say when they don't intend to do the fixing.
Will this move me up on Google?
Speed and technical health are one factor among several, not the only one. Fixing them removes a brake; what happens after that also depends on content and competition. Anyone promising you a specific position is selling smoke.
What do you need from me?
The site address and, if you have them, read access to Google Analytics and Search Console. Nothing else. You don't need to touch anything or take the site down.
How often should it be repeated?
Once a year is plenty if the site doesn't change much. It's worth repeating after a redesign, after adding a new tool — a chat widget, a booking system — or if you notice things got slow and can't tell since when.
Shall we look at what's wrong?
Send me the address and I'll tell you roughly, free and in the same conversation, whether I see anything big. If there is, the audit tells you exactly what it is and what it costs to get it out of the way.
